The Sunflower

The Sunflower

I dreamt I was lost in a field of sunflowers

So tall

They towered above me

I lifted my head

I saw the swirling golden clouds in the sky

The heads of the sunflowers

Sheltered my eyes from the bright sunlight

I smelt their aroma

They cradled me in their upright stance

I looked north

I looked south

I looked east and west

I just saw fields of sunflowers

I felt overwhelmed with their caress

I wanted to sleep in my sunflower bed

The heat and the breeze

Tiring to me

The swirling circles of clouds

The yellow sunflowers stood tall and proud

I was tired and lost in my dreams

I felt calm and serene

I didn’t want to wake

I hoped my field of dreams and sunflower bed where I lay

I wanted so dream there another day

To feel the sunflowers sway

In the magnificent sun and swirling clouds like that day

I dreamt I was lost in a field of sunflowers
