The Land of Giants
Cardboard cutouts and paper dreams
As life gently frays at the seams
Postcards and photographs
From the past
As faces and laughter fade away
Champagne bottles pop
Glasses clash
The present is now our past
Wiping the steamed up windows
Life is much bigger than me
I feel like an ant
Sometimes in a land of giants
Life towers above me
Yet, I am free to roam
A needle and thread
Life is gently sewn
As red roses grow
Protected by thorns
Sharp as a paper cut
Blood is spilt
Cardboard cutouts will wilt in the rain
Paper dreams are torn
Nightmares are reborn
A red rose surrounded by thorns
As life bursts out at the seams
Nothing is as it seems
Am I just a centipede?
With a million daydreams and nightmares
Sometimes in a land of giants
Life towers above me
Yet, I roam free
A stitch is sown
As I find my natural home
Daydreams and nightmares are reborn
As I tread carefully between the thorns
As a red rose stands tall
Nothing is what it seems
I try to wipe the window clean
Life is bigger than me
I now see clearly
I’m a Ladybird flying freely
Above the land of giants
I see the tall red roses
I smell their beautiful scent
Life is bigger than the land of giants
