The colour of sound

Auction day

The colour of sound

Amplified as the picture came alive

The Auctioneer shouted sold

So many times

Spoke as if, on fast forward speed

All double Dutch to me

Sold

One, two, three

In this world of affluence and decadence

As the colour of sound

Shouted out loud

Please, please let me out!

Don’t lock me back up

In the ship’s vault

Let me breathe the fresh air

To be displayed

Not to fade, slowly away

To be admired and ridiculous amounts paid!

Please don’t be afraid

The picture is only playing

The colour of sound

You succumb to its charms

Hypnotised by the colour of sound

The picture caught you out

So many thousands of dollars you paid out

The picture with the colour of sound

Blaring out loud

How many decibels?

On it’s expensive frame and mount

Who let the colour of sound out?

The picture escaped from the ship’s vault

As you drank your bubbly champagne

Fizz has compromised your sensible brain

The picture caught you out again!

The sound of colour hypnotised your brain

Are you insane?

The amount you just paid for a picture and  in a mounted frame

Three million dollars!

Plus tax

Is the picture of sound worth that?

The colour of sound

The colours blurted out

Into your bemused face

Splattered splashes of paint

In a bowler hat

That’s the colour of sound

Booming out loud

No escape found

Who let you out?

The colour of sound

As the gavel, once more goes down
