Popsicle

A popping candy Popsicle

Beautifully colourful with rings of blue, red and white

Such an ice cold delight

I see fury teddy bear eggs

Escaping their mother the kiwi plant

A bunch of polished cherries in my warm hands

A dish of scrumptious strawberries and cream

I’m I watching cricket in this childhood dream?

I thought I was at Wimbledon

I smell the sweet sea

I feel a giant wave about to splash me

A freshly made sugar ring donut

I lick my sugared lips

Delicious!

I’m back in my childhood again!

Sandy feet and penny games

Long before modern video games

The aroma of freshly cooked fish and homemade crispy chips

Covered in scraps accompanied with salt and vinegar

The indulgence and excitement of eating it out of a inked newspaper

It always tastes the best

A 99 to finish this exhausting, exhilarating day

Swirling whipping vanilla ice cream

Drips down my chin

Encased with the flakiest chocolate bar

Feeling sick on the long winding bumpy ride home

Childhood fictional dreams with memories of where I might have been

Dreams of things I have never even seen

Some places I’ve definitely been

A Popsicle dream

Imagination entwined with words and mind

So many times

It all started with the wonderful word popsicle
