My inner child opens the little red door
Please excuse the cliche
The inner child in me
Grew curious and curiouser
I stood on the steps
I took a sip of elderberry fizzy water
I was nosey and curious
Amazingly I shrunk to the size of the door
I had no option but to open the door
I remembered it was my child inner self
I saw cakes and buns on the shelves
Lemonade on the table
The table laid with sweets cakes
A bed and a chair
This tree house
Belonged to someone
Somewhere
It was decorated beautifully
There was winding stairs
That just carried on
I lost count of the number of floors
Each one had a different bright coloured door
I began to grow
I just managed to get out of the door
I started to grow back to size
As I grew I lost a little bit of my inner child inside
I said goodbye to my inner child
My inner child
Now long gone
