I wanted to hold the Earth

I wanted to hold the Earth in my hand

I wanted to feel the heat

I want to feel the ice frozen cold

As I held the Earth

I become wet from the oceans and high seas

Covered in sand from the deserts and beaches

I dry off in the cool summer breeze

The rain and storms

Come and soak me

I am hungry

I eat some fruit

As the fruit trees wave in the breeze

Tropical fruit fall into my lap

Coconut and pineapple

I have a fruit cocktail

I have ice cream

From the dairy cows

It’s hard to hold onto Earth

The Earth throws some wood at me

I make a fire

I take my wet clothes off

Earth builds me a shelter

I can only dream of

I swim naked with the dolphins

In the tropical island of fun

You seduce me

As a tropical storm comes

I’ve lost my grip

I can no longer hold this wondrous Earth

I can only accept its gifts

The Earth was never mine to hold

As you promise to take hold of me
