The Youthful Mirror

As I look in the mirror

I only see my younger self

With yellow petals, so fragile

That covered my youthful blossoming face

My stem stood so tall

I had such grace

I held my head

So high

In the sunshine

Now I can only stoop

My beautiful fragile petals

Have withered and dwindled away

No longer displayed on my aged face

As I reach my inevitable end

I only hold a head that has gone to wispy seed

I no longer recognise me

Yet, I still see

The youthful me

The mirror deceives me

Or do I see, what really I want to see?

Is the mirror just cruel?

I know in my heart

I no longer bloom
