The Printed Words
Upon the brow of an open book
The printed words overtook
Spread across the page
They wrote in fun and tears
Left smiles and laughter lines
Feeling giddy
Feeling jittery
Splattered ink
The words didn’t have time to think
Writing in joined up words
Making up a verse
With the flowing ink
Caught on the crisp page
Bound together in a leather spine
Writing in rhythm and rhyme
Never missing a line
Giggling like naughty children
Having the best time
Until the ink ran out of time
The giggling
The jittering
The ink stopped
The end of the well written book
The reader has a sneaky look
Laughter and tears as the reader read
The poems and rhymes
Taking their time
The ink dried just in time
While holding the leather spine
Reading upon the brow of the open book
The printed words overtook
