The tall, dark shadow
Walked down Pumpkin Lane
Hands of straw
Doc Martin, old dirty boots
Wearing shoddy workmen clothes
This is how I imagined you
Tall, dark shadow
I can only see a tall looming shadow
No human form to match your slow moving shadow
As you grow nearer
Your shadow grows much taller
Quite overwhelming
Quite unnerving
Quite scary and totally horrifying
I hear every daunting footstep
Is he the unknown monster of Halloween?
I’ve never seen the tall, dark shadow man
Has the shadow man come to scare us?
Is he my nightmare daydream?
Is he an hallucination of my vivid imagination?
Of my very own making?
Yet, I am wide awake and the tall, shadow man
Grows ever nearer
Walking down Pumpkin Lane
I scream out very loud
There is a Halloween monster in town
Tall, dark shadow man
Has he come to make his Trick or Treat rounds?
