Old Poets
Poets from the past
Their words written in lasting ink
Last long after they have died
Not famous or even recognised in their own precious time
Only to be reborn and live graciously on
Where new fresh eyes look upon
Words, so fluid resembling music and dance
In the old reread book in my inked hands
As their words expand effortlessly through time
Famous in a dawn and a sunrise they will never see
In a future they could neither predict or even breathe
Yet, their words paint a picture of the past
I wasn’t born to see
Yet, old Poets poetry live on in you and me
Beyond the sky and sea
The dark night and silver stars
Constellations so high
These old Poets have a beating heart and living ink
Still relevant
We gaze our eyes upon
A now famous poet sadly gone
Their words will dance on
Long after we are gone
